Shwe Oo Min Method
Shwe Oo Min Sayadaw was a famous monk in Burma regarded to be highly enlightened. In contrast to some other methods, his method takes on a less rigid & less regimented approach where meditation can be done in any position, sitting, standing, walking, lying down or even in a slouching position. The point is in developing constant mental awareness throughout one’s waking hours & not just during focused sitting sessions.
Many times, meditators don’t know how to deal with distracting thoughts that arise during meditation. While some methods will just advice to keep focusing on the breath or some other object, the SOM method teaches how to be aware of the mind.
In this 4-min video, Sayadaw U Tejaniya, successor of the SOM lineage, gives an important lesson as to how this can be done.
